Storytelling is part of social action and interaction that actually shapes the future of organizations. Organization and management studies have overwhelmingly focused to date on rational narrative structures with beginnings, middles, and ends, where narrative has proved to be a handy concept in qualitative studies. Far less attention is given however to the more spontaneous and 'non-staged' storytelling that occurs in organizations. Storytelling and the Future of Organizations explores the science and practice of 'antenarrative' because that is how the future of organization is sh

Political communities are defined, and often contested, through stories. Scholars have long recognized that two foundational sets of stories narratives of contact and narratives of arrival helped to define settler societies. We are only beginning to understand how ongoing issues of migration and settlement are linked to issues of indigenous-settler contact. Storied Communities disrupts the assumption in many works that indigenous and immigrant identities fall into two separate streams of analysis. The authors do not attempt to build a new master narrative they instead juxtapose narratives of contact and arrival as they explore key themes: narrative and narrative form, the nature and hazards of storytelling in the political realm, and the institutional and theoretical implications of foundation narratives and storytelling. By bringing to light the links between narratives of contact and narratives of arrival, this volume opens up new ways to imagine, sustain, and transform political communities.

Traditionally in the West, children were expected to "know their place," but what does this comprise in a contemporary, globalized world? Does it mean to continue to accept subordination to those larger and more powerful? Does it mean to espouse unthinkingly a notion of national identity? Or is it about gaining an awareness of the ways in which identity is derived from a sense of place? Where individuals are situated matters as much if not more than it ever has. In children's literature, the ...

Das tut dieser Reader auf vielfältige Weise.« Thomas Bernhard, lehrerbibliothek.de, 1 (2012) »Praise is due to the editors for including a genuinely broad selection of theoretical concerns, methodological approaches, and subjects.« Tim Lanzendörfer, Amerikastudien, 56/4 (2011) Besprochen in: Die Presse, 11.12.2011 goethe.de, 1 (2012) junge welt, 03./04.03.2012, Wolfgang Müller
